The Film Scene at Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University is known throughout the country- and even the world- for its medial and science programs. A program that often goes unknown is Cinema and Cultural Studies, which focuses on film rather than lab coats.

The program, which is administered by the Department of Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies, focuses on film as a form of expression, in relation to other disciplines like literature, art and theater.

NHL 1st Round Recap- Eastern Conference

I often get into arguments with people about which is a better playoff: The NHL or the NBA. Obviously, everyone is biased with which sport they prefer, and sadly, most people don’t enjoy hockey. But after watching numerous great 1st-round series in the NHL, it is hard to argue.

Album Review: Circa Survive “Blue Sky Noise”

Even if you hate the cd, you can't deny the awesome cover

I’ve found that over the years, the bands I listened to back in high school have just gotten worse and worse. Part of that is that I liked really crappy bands when i was 16, and are realizing that six years later. The other part is that bands I liked back then have matured over the last half-decade.

A Shootout to Determine a Playoff Birth- Something has to Change

April 12, 2010 Leave a comment

There is a laundry list of things wrong with the NHL, with the shootout near the top of the list.

I’ve felt that the shootout is bad for the game since its inception in 2005. There is no reason for a game that focuses so much on team play and non-individual talent, to end in a skills competition.

Sean Avery: The Man Everyone Loves to Hate

March 15, 2010 2 comments

I was recently talking to a friend of mine, who happens to be a New York Islander fan. He said that if you like Sean Avery, you’re not a real hockey fan because he is bad for the game. He went on to say that he is the worst fighter in the NHL, and quite frankly, is a wuss. I can’t think of anything further from the truth.

In this video, they find a man named Jonah Falcon who is need off a job. It is a joke video feature, in which the interviewer encourages Falcon to start a career in porn, due to his above-average penis size. It is filmed like a 60 Minutes piece, but obviously scripted and with a comedic touch. She eventually convinces him to use his ‘gift’ for advertising space.
