The Creator Of Farmville May Soon Be Saying Goodbye To Facebook

Over the past few months the increasingly popular Farmville and Facebook have become synonymous. Along with other games like YoVille and Mafia Wars, anyone signing onto their Facebook would likely see an update for at least one, if not multiple, update for these games. But now the company responsible for these three games as well as many more,  Zynga, may be leaving the Facebook behind.

Friday Night Lights Season 4 Premier

Friday Night Lights is back for its fourth season on NBC. The first episode premiered last week on Friday at 8 o’clock. Previously, the fourth season was aired only on Direct TV, but after its run Direct TV sells the season to NBC.

Steam Coming to Macs May 12

The dates been set. According to Shacknews, on May 12 the Mac version of Steam will become available, giving Mac users the chance to get a part of the digital distribution goodness that is Steam. Not to mention all the great sales that are offered on a regular basis.

iPhone App Review: Dungeon Hunter

Yes, it is kind of a bland name. And if it was on any other platform, this game probably would just fade into the background. But on the iPhone, Dungeon Hunter stands out from the pack. It isn’t a puzzle game, it doesn’t have bright colors or look like a kids cartoon. It’s a game about fighting monsters, in the same vein of computer games like Diablo or Titan’s Quest. Read more…

Their is no question that in the world of cell phones, Apple is the King, Lord, Emperor, Shogun or just about any other ruler name you can think of. They were the first into the market with a sleek, accessible and truly ground breaking phone. They deserve their success. Now it must contend with many other challengers entering the market with phones that more than rival the all powerful iPhone. Googles Android phones chief among the new comers. Thus far, Apple has yet to be usurped. Android has potential, but their are two key things it has to fight.

iPhone App Review: Peggle

Some games are just about flashing lights, bright colors and wracking up the points.  Peggle is a game where the sole goal is to try and increase your score as much as possible, by shooting a ball from the top of the screen to the bottom while trying to hit as many pegs as possible.

At first glance, the immediate impression of Peggle would probably be that your looking at a kids game.  Bright lights, simple controls and goals and some very “Pixar-esc” characters give the illusion that a game like Peggle is for kids.  In reality, it is a game for adults and kids alike.  It’s a game that because of just how simple and fun it is, grabs you and wont let you go, no matter how old you are. I-CON Comes to Stony Brook

I-CON, the convention dedicated to science fiction, fantasy, anime and gaming, returned to Stony Brook after a brief one year stint at Suffolk Community College.  The convention took place over the last weekend in March, starting Friday at 5 o’clock after classes, and running through Sunday.

Communities Try to Get Google’s Attention for Internet Upgrade

Don Ness, Duluth, Minn. Mayor goes for a swim in Lake Superior

Google is playing Willy Wonka and towns across the U.S. are trying to get with the golden ticket.  The promise of an incredibly fast internet connection has sent a number of communities across the US into a frenzy.  Why? Google has announced that it will build the infrastructure required to provide high speed broadband network to at least one community in the U.S., at no charge.

This has prompted towns across the country to start doing publicity stunts to gain the internet search giant’s attention.  The water in Lake Superior might be close to freezing, but that didn’t stop Don Ness, the mayor of Duluth, Minn., from going for a swim in an attempt to get Google to pick his town.  The mayor in Sarasota, Fla. took a dip in a shark tank for the same reason.  Topeka, Kan. even went as far to rename the town to “Google” for all of March.   Read more…
