Friday Night Lights Will Stay on the Air

NBC’s highly acclaimed but relatively unknown series, Friday Night Lights, will (thankfully) be sticking around for another two seasons.  Although the series has struggled for ratings since its inception in 2006 it has consistently received good reviews and been nonimated for awards. Read more…

Dont Worry Ke$ha It Can Happen To Anybody.

Popeater.com listed Ke$ha in their list of worst SNL performances ever.

According to the site, Ke$ha’s perfomance  ”was nothing short of disastrous, as media outlets around the hemisphere raced to be the first to post their “Was Ke$ha the worst ‘SNL’ musical guest ever?” articles.”

CoCo coming to TBS!

Team CoCo prevails! It was announced today that Conan O’Brien will make his return to late night in November 2010. There was lots of speculation as to which network O’Brien would team up with to make late night greatness after his nasty rift with NBC, his former employer of 17 years. In a surprising twist, CoCo will join TBS‘s late night line-up, which currently consists of only George Lopez. O’Brien’s new show, which has yet to be titled, will air directly before Lopez Tonight.

Dancing With the Stars-Episode 1 Recap

Dancing With the Stars had its big 10th season premiere tonight, and the show decided to usher in a milestone season with some milestone changes and some surprisingly good performances.

I previously blogged about the changes in co-host, number of celebrities, and pros who confirmed they would or would not be performing.  Other changes this season? The “red room,” where celebrities previously gathered before and after performances is gone-in its place is a new glass balcony across from the stage and directly in the audience. The balcony allows the fellow celebrities to also watch the competition while they perform-talk about nerve-wracking.

The show has also changed the screen graphics for the intro and when scores are announced.

Brooke Burke, the season 7 winner is the new co-host, and does a good job, but speaks at a much lower volume than Samantha Harris ever did. I had to turn up the volume on my TV twice in order to hear her.

Breaking Bad – Season 3 Premiere

Tonight marks the premiere of the third season of Breaking Bad on AMC. For the last two years, this show has changed the way people look at the Midwestern meth epidemic, drug dealing and what it truly means to be “bad.”

The show stars Bryan Cranston, from Malcolm in the Middle fame, as a high school chemistry teacher named Walter White.

In the show, White is diagnosed with stage-three lung cancer and is told he doesn’t have long to live. Living on a teacher’s salary, White realizes he doesn’t have enough money to pay for treatment or to take care of his family after he passes.

With the help of one of his students, a young meth addict named Jesse Pinkman (played by Aaron Paul), White begins cooking and selling meth in the seedy community of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

HBO’s “The Pacific” Premiers

Tom Hanks’ miniseries about the fighting in the Pacific theater of WWII debuted tonight, with the first episode depicting the Marine landing on Guadalcanal and subsequent fighting there.

War cinema tends to have a common aim: tell the story of the individual person who is forced into the unnatural role of soldier, a thinking and feeling human being faced with the incredible task of operating as part of the machine that is the military. The goal is to fill audiences with the sense of awe that is as close as anyone who has never been in armed combat can get to understanding the trials of war. Read more…

“Lost” Episode Six “Sundown”

March 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Each week so far this season one of the main characters has gotten a turn in the spotlight and this week it belongs to Sayid. After this episode it has become evident that Sayid may end up being one of the more tragic characters in “Lost.” He has always had good intentions, but  has constantly been running from his past as a soldier in the Republican Guard. Now it appears as if his fate may be dragging him to the dark side once again.

We see the battle for Sayid’s soul taking place in his flash sideways as well. He must decide whether or not to help his brother, who is married to Nadia, out of his financial troubles. Again, Sayid is torn. Ridding his brother of the men that want this money from him will ultimately free his niece and nephew along with the woman he loves, but at what cost? We see another chance run in here, as Keamy, the man who had once worked for Charles Widmore, is the person Sayid’s brother owes money to. Ultimately he kills the men holding his brother hostage over the money. Again, he does this with pure motivations, but it’s obviously something that’s taking a toll on Sayid and making him someone he does not want to be.
